Born in the oil-boom town of Guayaguayare in 1970, Rushton Paray is a living blend of the entrepreneurial spirit and public service ethos that shaped Trinidad and Tobago. Raised by a police officer and a businesswoman, Rushton was instilled early on with values of respect for authority and compassion for the community.
Prior to his political career starting in 2015, Rushton was already a successful entrepreneur. Holding a Master's in Business Administration and international IT certifications, he led various enterprises, such as Computer Technologies & Services Limited. For Rushton, businesses were more than revenue streams—they were ways to serve and uplift the community.
Rushton's role as the head of the Mayaro Business Chamber acted as a prelude to his political journey. Committed to unlocking Mayaro's untapped potential, he chose to take his advocacy from the boardroom to the corridors of power.
In Parliament, Rushton is a force for innovation and transparency. He has leveraged his expertise in digital business transformation to streamline his office's operations, embodying the principles of "Availability" and "Communication." With the ethos that "bad news is better than no news," Rushton maintains an honest dialogue with his constituents.
His tenure in Parliament extends beyond legislative duties. Rushton has actively served on Joint Select Committees, and has contributed to over 40 bills and motions. Community development remains his focus, as he collaborates with local schools and NGOs to improve education and health.
